About Us
Well, about me haha!
I'm Hannah, a mother to three daughters aged 4, 2 and 1. I live beachside along the Fleurieu, where my husband, Jack, also manages his own business. And as I like to say, Smell the Roses didn't come to me in a dream, but it did come to me while lying in bed.
One night as my husband wrestled the kids to bed, I laid there thinking, if I needed something invented just for me, what would I need? (Weird question, I know, but welcome to my head). My next thought was, "Ahh, I'm so tired I should plan a rest day."
Honestly, I've got into the habit of planning time without the kids and then just hoping something happens on the day that makes my rest time totally and completely refreshing. And it was in that moment I realised, wouldn't it be nice to have someone plan my rest time for me? So I started asking some mum friends who all felt the same. After further market research, I found myself building the idea of these monthly boxes for rest.
How did I come up with the name? Well, I wanted something a little cheesy and unforgettable, and the phrase, "stop and smell the roses", stuck out to me during this time. So, Smell the Roses Australia was born.
And after all the excitement of deciding to start a business, of coming up with what I hoped was a winning idea, a cute name that made sense, the doubt set in. What if this is the biggest failure of my life? What if I'm the only mum who actually has this problem and other mums are just better at managing their rest than I? What if I don't sell any? What if I'm wasting my family's time and money investing in this? So, with those thoughts, I sat and started an Instagram, posting as often as I could. I made a website, put together the first-ever resting box, and made some of my first sales.Â
Am I an instant millionaire? No, but I'm here, still pushing through the doubt, still giving it my best.
So, I hope with each Resting Box you purchase, with each thing you create, read and learn from them, you find the rest you need to restore your body, mind, and soul so you can go on loving your little kids from the overflow of your cup.Â
And know that I do a happy dance with every purchase. I mean a full-out sprint around the backyard hollering. So thanks for supporting this Mumma so I can go on supporting so many others mums who find planning rest a 'never crossed off item' on their to-do list,
With love,Â
Hannah xx
